Jessica Westerman is a Partner at Katz Banks Kumin.
Ms. Westerman has represented employees from all walks of life, from delivery drivers to pharmaceutical executives to fast food workers, who have been subjected to illegal and unfair workplace practices, including sex and gender discrimination, race discrimination, disability discrimination, retaliation, and wage theft. She has litigated cases in state and federal court as well as in administrative proceedings before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She has also represented numerous employees in cases that resolved successfully and confidentially prior to litigation.
Ms. Westerman is a member of the Amicus Committee of the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association and has authored multiple amicus briefs in support of workers in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. She also volunteers with the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs Workers’ Rights Clinic.
Ms. Westerman was recognized as a Rising Star of the Plaintiffs Bar by the National Law Journal in 2021 and has been recognized by Best Lawyers in The Best Lawyers in America® list since 2026. She received her JD from Georgetown University Law Center, where she received the Dean’s Certificate for Special and Outstanding Service to the Law Center Community, and her undergraduate degree from Princeton University. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Westerman served as a law clerk to the Honorable Russell F. Canan of the District of Columbia Superior Court.
