Hiring Information – Systems Administrator

Systems Administrator

KBK is a 40-person law firm with offices in Washington, DC, San Francisco, and New York. We are looking for a Systems Administrator who combines solid technical skills with the patience and communication ability to support a staff that ranges from very technical to not technical at all.

This is a hands-on support role. You will handle a wide variety of day-to-day staff requests. You will work with a managed services provider (MSP) to drive the firm’s move to SharePoint, and to strengthen security in an environment where building good habits takes time and encouragement.

The right person for this position is patient, approachable, and understands that how you help people matters as much as the help itself.

KEY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

User Support

  • Serve as the primary contact for technical support across all three offices, in person, by phone, and on-site, when needed.
  • Set up and configure workstations and devices; diagnose and resolve problems reported by users or monitoring systems.
  • Provide clear, patient help to users of all technical backgrounds.

MSP Transition and Vendor Relations

  • Lead the internal side of the migration to a new MSP, coordinating timelines, communication, and staff readiness.
  • Serve as the day-to-day liaison with the MSP and other technology vendors.

SharePoint Migration and Training

  • Assess existing workflows and lead the migration to SharePoint.
  • Design and deliver training tailored to different user groups; create documentation to support ongoing adoption.

Systems, Network, and Security

  • Maintain and proactively monitor network infrastructure; manage upgrades, repairs, and user access.
  • Partner with the MSP to improve security and compliance, using practical, people-centered approaches that account for the firm’s culture.
  • Develop internal policies and standards; respond promptly to security events.
  • Advise the firm on the adoption of industry best practices as they evolve in the marketplace.

REQUIREMENTS

Required: A combination of relevant education, experience and training equivalent to a four (4) year degree in computer sciences and/or other technology-based discipline from an accredited college or university, plus 5-8 years demonstrated experience in:

  • Hardware, software, and network support
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving network issues
  • Effective end user support, including training, help desk support and product advice
  • Cybersecurity fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred: This role requires the ability to independently manage deadlines for multiple assignments in a fast-paced, detail-oriented office environment. Key competencies include the ability to demonstrate:

  • Experience leading a Microsoft 365 or SharePoint migration.
  • Prior experience with a law firm or professional services firm
  • Cultural competence interacting with diverse prospective clients, vendors and staff
  • Experience in a co-managed IT model with an MSP.
  • Problem solving and attention to detail
  • Effective collaboration with colleagues, clients, vendors and other stakeholders
  • Highest ethical compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to explain technical concepts in plain language.

COMPENSATION AND TOTAL REWARDS

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), onsite, benefits-eligible position. Full-time employees are eligible for a generous total rewards package including a competitive salary commensurate with experience, including:

  • Competitive pay, $95,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience.
  • Health and wellness benefits, including medical, dental, vision coverage.
  • 401K and Safe Harbor retirement savings accounts.

We are a passionate and fun group of employees who are committed to helping people who have identified wrongdoing or been wronged themselves achieve a fair outcome. We are looking to hire someone with these same values.
