Counsel

Katz Banks Kumin LLP, a boutique employment and whistleblower law firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., with offices in San Francisco, CA, Philadelphia, PA, and New York, NY, is now accepting applications for a California or New York-based Counsel position.

The Counsel position offers talented, experienced attorneys the opportunity to represent executives and other professionals across a variety of industries with regard to employment and severance agreements, independent contractor and consulting contracts, restrictive covenants, partnership agreements, compensation plans, including equity and other long-term compensation agreements, and other professional arrangements.  Counsel are expected to directly advise clients, manage their own caseloads, and assist in the direction of junior attorneys, as necessary.

Applicants should have at least seven years of relevant employment law and/or litigation experience, preferably representing executives, and a demonstrated commitment to civil rights issues.  Ideal candidates have strong academic credentials; superior analytical, research, writing, and verbal skills; the ability to balance a varied case load; and California and/or New York Bar membership obtained prior to starting with the firm.

Compensation for the Counsel position is $139,000-$250,000 per year, based on years of legal experience.  The Counsel’s compensation also includes discretionary bonuses, origination credit opportunities, and a generous benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan contributions, and other benefits.

Senior Associate

Katz Banks Kumin LLP, a boutique employment and whistleblower law firm headquartered in Washington, DC, with offices in San Francisco, CA, Philadelphia, PA, and New York, NY, is now accepting applications for a Senior Associate position in its San Francisco office.

The Senior Associate position offers talented attorneys the opportunity to work on important whistleblower, employment discrimination, wage and hour, and other civil rights cases with passionate experienced attorneys.  Associates are deeply involved in all aspects and stages of litigation, including investigating and developing cases, interviewing clients and witnesses, participating in settlement negotiations and mediations, researching and drafting pleadings and detailed case communications, conducting discovery, and attending legal proceedings. Senior Associates additionally are expected to work closely with firm Partners, help manage cases, advise clients, and assist in the direction of junior attorneys.

Applicants should have at least five years of litigation and/or employment law experience and a demonstrated commitment to civil rights issues.  Ideal candidates have strong academic credentials; superior analytical, research, writing, and verbal skills; the ability to balance a varied case load; and California Bar membership obtained prior to starting with the firm.

Associates are compensated according to the firm’s established pay scale.  Compensation for the Senior Associate position is $125,000-$139,000 per year, based on years of legal experience.  The Senior Associate’s compensation also includes discretionary bonuses, origination credit opportunities, and a generous benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan contributions, and other benefits.

Litigation Fellowship

Katz Banks Kumin LLP, a boutique employment and whistleblower law firm with offices in Washington, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and New York, will soon be accepting applications for a one-year Litigation Fellowship position starting in Fall 2025.  The Katz Banks Kumin Litigation Fellowship offers talented new attorneys the opportunity to work on important whistleblower, employment discrimination, and civil rights cases with our Firm’s experienced practitioners.  Our Fellows are deeply involved in all aspects and stages of our whistleblower and employment discrimination cases, from developing and investigating cases, interviewing clients, participating in settlement negotiations, drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and attending legal proceedings with (and under the supervision of) the Firm’s skilled attorneys.

Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to employment law, civil rights, and/or public interest issues; strong academic credentials; superior analytical, research, writing, and verbal skills; the ability to multitask and balance a varied case load; and Bar membership pending or obtained prior to starting with the Firm.

The Firm is not yet accepting applications for its 2025-2026 Litigation Fellowship.  We will post information about how to apply in early to mid-summer 2024.
