As lawmakers seek to reign in the rapidly growing cryptocurrency industry, many crypto-enthusiasts worry about over-regulation. According to Ms. Ronickher and Mr. O’Connor, industry insiders could assist in preventing overregulation by blowing the whistle on unethical practices within cryptocurrency companies.  These crypo whistleblowers likely have robust retaliation protections and may be eligible for whistleblower awards should their information lead to enforcement actions.
