Carolyn Wheeler to Join Panel on Muldrow Case

July 10, 2024

On July 25th, KBK Partner Carolyn Wheeler will join an ABA panel discussion on the recent SCOTUS decision in Muldrow vs. City of St. Louis, which held employees do not have to prove “significant” harm to establish discrimination in terms, condition, or privileges of employment. The panel, “Muldrow v. City of St. Louis: Terms and Conditions May Apply” will cover the majority and concurring decisions in Muldrow, and panelists will discuss how the decision may affect discrimination claims beyond the transfer at issue in Muldrow, and how it may affect corporate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

Ms. Wheeler has written extensively on the Muldrow case, authoring an amicus brief to the Court in 2023 arguing that the text of Title VII does not require an employee who was transferred due to discrimination to provide proof of a “significant disadvantage” in employment as a result of the transfer.
