Debra Katz Speaks at Harvard University

February 4, 2020

Katz Banks Kumin partner Debra Katz spoke at a Harvard event, “Making #MeToo Count” along with four women – Terry Karl, Charna Sherman, Nienke Grossman, and Suzanna Challen – who spoke out against now ex-professor Jorge Dominguez.

The panelists criticized the University for ignoring their and others’ complaints over several years – all while continuing to promote Dominguez – and were weary of the external review committee that the University tasked with investigating how the Government department failed to provide a safe environment for its students and faculty.

As for how the process can be improved, the panelists called on Harvard to adopt a third party grievance procedure for victims to make sexual harassment and discrimination complaints. For now, the University has insisted that complaints continue to be handled by its own Office of Dispute Resolution.
