KBK Supports EEO Leaders in Comment Opposing Proposed Rule Weakening Federal-Sector EEO Process
KBK is proud to support EEO Leaders in opposing the EEOC’s proposed rule that weakens the federal-sector EEO process. EEO Leaders is a nonpartisan group of former senior officials from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).
The EEOC’s proposed changes include eliminating the right to a hearing before an impartial EEOC administrative judge, ending class action complaints, stopping required pre-complaint counseling, and requiring a higher pleading standard for complaints.
KBK senior counsel Pamela J. Stone, who worked closely with EEO Leaders on their comments, highlighted that, “Congress extended Title VII protections to federal employees in 1972 to give them a fair and impartial administrative process to vindicate their rights. This proposed rule would turn back the clock on Congress’s commitment.”
