KBK Partner Sharon McGowan Featured in InvestigateTV Piece on Housing Discrimination

New today: a powerful piece from InvestigateTV reporter Caresse Jackman featuring KBK Partner Sharon McGowan, who speaks about a critical housing discrimination issue: racial bias in real estate appraisal and mortgage lending.

McGowan represents Terry Horton and the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) in a complaint to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) challenging the discriminatory treatment Mr. Horton experienced when trying to refinance his Cincinnati property in 2022.

We’re thankful to Investigative TV for elevating Mr. Horton’s story and doing a deeper dive into the pervasive problem of the undervaluation of Black-owned property by appraisers and lenders.  We salute Mr. Horton for his courage and determination to prevent this from happening to others, and NCRC for their efforts to root out racial bias in the lending and appraisal industries.
