Last Wednesday, the D.C. Access to Justice Commission honored Katz Banks Kumin for qualifying for the Raising the Bar in D.C. Campaign. The campaign, established in 2011, honors law firms that donate a benchmark percentage of their revenue to local legal services providers. Katz Banks Kumin was honored as platinum-level donors – the highest level.

This year, the 43 honored firms combined donated almost $6 million to legal aid organizations that serve low-income D.C. residents.

“These District law firms are an example not only locally but nationally on how the private bar’s generosity can help advance civil justice,” said Peter B. Edelman, Chair of the D.C. Access to Justice Commission and a professor at Georgetown University Law Center. “These funds are essential to ensuring that thousands of District residents have access to legal help in critical areas such as housing, domestic violence, family law, fraud, and more.”
