Lisa Banks Speaks on Whistleblowers in Sports Panel
Katz Banks Kumin partner Lisa Banks spoke on the panel, “Whistleblowers: Sources who step forward and the sports journalists who tell their stories.” The event was hosted by The Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism at the University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism.
Ms. Banks spoke about her experience representing whistleblowers, and the importance of the press in amplifying the stories of wrongdoing and fraud that whistleblowers frequently expose.
Ms. Banks was joined by USA Today sports columnist Nancy Armour, MLB senior writer Brittany Ghiroli, Washington Post reporter Beth Reinhard, and former Washington Football Team cheerleader and marketing director Melanie Coburn.
Ms. Banks is representing over 40 former employees of the Washington Football team who have alleged a toxic and abusive work environment, going back 20 years, in which women were subjected to pervasive sexual harassment and abuse.
