Ms. Magazine published an article, "Court Gives OK to Unequal Pay," by Katz Banks Kumin attorney Justine Andronici. The article described Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber, as well as the Supreme Court's 5-4 decision in that case. Ledbetter discovered that she was paid less than her male counterparts at Goodyear, but Supreme Court Justice Alito ruled that she would have had to file her EEOC Complaint within 180 days of the first discriminatory paycheck -- as opposed to 180 days from any discriminatory paycheck. According to Ms. Andronici's article, Alito's decision "may signal a reversal of decades of progress on legal rights for women and minorities in the workplace." Read the full article here.
