Statement by Counsel for the Former Twitter Employee Who Testified Before the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol

Washington, DC – Alexis Ronickher and Debra S. Katz, who represent the former Twitter employee whose recorded testimony the House Select Committee used during today’s hearing, released the following statement regarding their client:

“As a private citizen, our client showed great bravery and true patriotism by providing information about the January 6th insurrection given the violent extremism that has arisen in our country.

As whistleblower lawyers, we cannot underscore enough how important and difficult it is for individuals like our client to come forward when they have information, which is made worse by the fact that many individuals lack adequate legal protections when they report matters of public concern to Congress.  Protecting whistleblowers is paramount for encouraging other individuals with information to come forward.  The Select Committee did just that by protecting our client’s identity, and our client is very grateful for that consideration.  Our client requests that others please respect their privacy, as well.”
