Washington, DC – Today, Dr. Rick Bright, a dedicated public servant and scientist with 30 years of expertise in addressing pandemic threats, testified today before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis on how to strengthen the country’s defense against future public health emergencies.

“Dr. Bright was the nation’s leading pandemic and vaccine expert when he sounded the alarm on the Trump Administration’s chaotic, deceptive and reckless response to the COVID-19 crisis, forcing changes that saved lives and enabled the rapid development of vaccines. We have made great strides in the last two years but as he shared today, the COVID-19 pandemic is not over – nor will it be our last public health crisis.

“Dr. Bright was right then, as he is right now. We urge Congress to adopt Dr. Bright’s insightful recommendations, grounded in scientific research, to protect Americans against future pandemics. We must never again allow politics to prevail over science.”
